System of Emotions

System of Emotions is an interactive installation where the viewers became part of the performance by “voting” through touch. Two plushies equipped with touch sensors and secret cameras recorded the participants' votes when prompted to by imaginary scenarios in the form of an audiovisual story. Lalacra, a transindividual cyborg persona, prompted attendees to get involved in the narrative. The performance represented a critical perspective to the dialectic logic of democracy, the affect of urgency and anxiety of bi-partisan politics, and the constant harvesting of biodata from humans. Below you will find an explanation of the architecture of the system, the archives of the collaboration and video from its presentation at the MCA Chicago.
