HAPTIC CONTRACTS

2017

This project follows the flow of information as it goes from touch to light projected onto the body, analyzing how the interactions with phones build meaning around us. Beyond the question of the legality of interactions with contracts and forms themselves, parsing, analyzing and paying close attention to interactive events allows us to see how their meaning is constructed across the systems at the haptic transactional event.

By testing different models of interaction across technologies that convert decision making into information, we also study the ways in which writing as a technology on itself is modified through physical and digital conversions. The collaborative drawing app is linked to a grid of colored LEDs that transform images, symbols, sequences of movement and uncontrolled motion into ephemeral lines of light.
